Mr. Ira Lee Eskridge, 88, husband of Doris Thomas Eskridge and a lifelong resident of Tangier, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Md.
Born April 26, 1931, he was a son of the late William Thomas Eskridge and the late Mildred Pruitt Eskridge. Mr. Eskridge served his country in the military, was a career waterman, and member of the New Testament Church.
In addition to his loving wife, survivors include four children, G. Kent Eskridge, of Tangier, and his girlfriend, Beverly Moyer, of Salisbury, Md., Daniel A. Eskridge and his wife, Kathy, of Heathsville, Va., Paula M. Schmitt and her husband, David, of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Jack A. Eskridge and his wife, Phyllis, of Staunton, Va.; two sisters, Shannon E. Bunner and her husband, Gene, of Salisbury, Md., and Mona E. Marshall, of Tangier; two brothers, William T. Eskridge Jr. and James W. Eskridge and his wife, Irene, all of Tangier; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Eskridge was predeceased by a son, Gregory C. Eskridge; and two brothers, Cpl. Warren R. Eskridge and A. Dale Eskridge.
A memorial service to celebrate his life was held at the New Testament Church on Tangier, Tuesday, May 28, 2019, with Elder Duane Crockett officiating.
