The Arcadia Firebirds junior varsity team completed the district schedule May 2 in Eastville against the Northampton Yellow Jackets, with the Firebirds coming out on top, 11-8, after having to battle extra innings to score three runs in the eighth to win the district title. Arcadia went undefeated in the district with a flawless 6-0 record this season.
Leading the Firebirds’ offense against the Yellow Jackets were Bella Williams, who went 2-for-4 and Sydney Jester was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Jester threw 6.1 innings, striking out four and allowing three runs on eight hits. Jayda Tull came in for 1.2 innings of relief to allow just one hit, two earned runs, four walks, while striking out two.
The girls traveled to Goochland May 3, and suffered their first loss of the season, 8-5.
Logan Stapleton was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Williams tallied one hit and batted in two to help lead the Firebirds at the plate.
Hailey Berry lasted six innings, throwing five strikeouts and allowing five runs on eight hits with one walk.
The Firebirds hosted Mardela May 6, to earn a 13-2 win.
Jester led the bats, smashing one homer and going 3-for-3 overall with five RBIs. Williams was 2-for-3 with one triple, and Stapleton hit two in three appearances and batted one in.
Tull got the win in the circle, tossing five innings, giving up two runs on five hits with four walks, with five strikeouts.
Arcadia JV travels to Windsor today to finish their season.
Arcadia traveled to Windsor May 7, and fell by a count of 5-1 to end their season.
Leading the offense was Tull, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Hannah Parks went 1-for-3 with a triple.
Jester shouldered the loss on the rubber, lasting six innings with two runs, eight hits, and one walk, with five strikeouts.
With the final game of the season under their belt, the Firebirds finished 7-2 overall.
