By Linda Cicoira — An Exmore woman died Monday afternoon after driving a car into a house on Lankford Highway in Painter.
Peggy Kellam, 53, of the 7000 block of Prettyman Court, died on impact, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the state police. Kellam was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol was not a contributing factor, the officer said.
The crash occurred at about 2:45 p.m. Kellam was driving a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis northbound when she ran off the road, crossed the grassy median and went into the southbound lanes before going off the road and striking the residence. The house was not occupied at the time of the collision.
