Mr. Milton Nock Custis Jr., 91, husband of Ellen Jones Custis and a resident of Pungoteague, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Commonwealth Senior Living (formerly Hermitage on the Eastern Shore), in Onancock. 

Born June 12, 1927, in Craddockville, and raised on the family farm in Pungoteague, he was a son of the late Milton Nock Custis Sr. and the late Bessie Smith Custis. A lifelong farmer, Mr. Custis worked tirelessly to maintain his family legacy and did so until after his 90th birthday. Though his passion was farming, his greatest love was for his family, all of whom will forever cherish his memory. 

In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by three children, Milton N. Custis III and wife, Angie, Glenn D. Custis and wife, Donna, and Linda C. Gaskill and husband, Stephen, all of Pungoteague; brother, Paige Custis, of Onley; three grandchildren, Talia Taylor and husband, Bobby, Tony Custis and wife, Jill, and Amber Custis; five great-grandchildren, Ellen Grace, Bates, and Bailey Taylor, and Hannah and Lillian Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Inez C. Kastler, Linda Custis, and Eugenia C. Beasley; and brothers, James Custis and Richard Custis.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living and Intrepid Hospice for the care and compassion given to “Pop.”

Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home Tuesday, April 23, 2019, with Pastor Bobby Parks officiating. Private interment was held in the Onancock Cemetery.
