Mr. Arvandus “Sonny” Roosevelt Godwin, 83, of Temperanceville, husband of the late Rose Godwin, passed away March 28, 2019, at his residence.
Born March 24, 1936, in Sanford, he was the son of the late Arvandus Godwin and the late Mary Helen Trader Godwin. He was a retired insurance agent and a retired desk clerk at the Temple Hill Hotel in Salisbury. Mr. Godwin also served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a son, Derrick Godwin; one brother; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews, Josie and Phillip Williams, Nathan Godwin, Brock and Tyler Williams, Gage and Zachary Godwin, Dustin Godwin and Danielle.
Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother.
A funeral service was held Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m. from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley with Pastor Freddie Ward officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
