By Linda Cicoira — A substitute teacher, who was working at Nandua High School last Wednesday, was charged with having firearms on school property, Accomack Sheriff Todd Godwin said in a prepared statement Sunday.
The crime was reported on March 27. Following an investigation, Phillip Gordon Stewart, 63, of Locustville, was arrested. Stewart was held in Accomack County Jail until March 29, when he was released on a $2,500 secured bond.
Godwin said deputies were assisted by the Onley Police Department in recovering the firearms.
