Mr. Irvin Temple Amadeo, 85, husband of Margaret Ellen Kellam Amadeo and a resident of Harborton, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019, at his residence. Born May 30, 1933, in Bear Poplar, N.C., and reared in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late Sadi Jesus Amadeo and the late Florence Donnelly Amadeo.

After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond in 1952, he joined the Virginia State Police where he retired in 1996 with 41 years of service, and he retired from the Virginia National Guard in 1972, after 20 years of service, attaining the rank of captain. Mr. Amadeo was a member of Harborton United Methodist Church, the Virginia State Police Alumni Association, and Central Lodge 300 AF&AM where he served as Worshipful Master in 1972 and DDGM in 2006.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Marvin Donnelly Amadeo and his wife, Amy; six grandchildren, Caitlyn and her fiancé, Michael Justis, Paige Treadwell and her husband, Brennan, Jordan Amadeo, Rhiannon Amadeo, January Collins, and Tommy Collins; five great-grandchildren, Marleigh and Lily Justis, Kristopher Treadwell, and Madeline and Max Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other than parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie Kirkland, and a brother, James Rudolph Amadeo.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 15, 2019, at 2 p.m., at Doughty Funeral Home with the Rev. Barbara Parker and the Rev. Tommy Kellam officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will joined at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
