By Linda Cicoira — A Chincoteague woman, accused of stabbing her husband in the chest with an 8-inch kitchen knife because he was unfaithful, was indicted Monday by an Accomack Circuit Court jury on a count of malicious maiming.
Esveire Nava-Gandara, 37, of Willow Street on Chincoteague, was indicted in connection with the Sept. 8 incident. Her husband of 14 years, Edgar Flores, told police his wife awakened him early in the morning by stabbing him. She says he stabbed himself. Nava-Gandara was ordered to stay away from Flores, her home, and the neighborhood. She was also ordered to surrender her passport.
The court record stated he was stabbed three times and that the injury was deep enough to puncture his right lung. The laceration to a finger required 10 stitches. Investigator Chuck McPherson, of the Chincoteague Police Department (CPD), reported in the file that Nava-Gandara said she went to bed between 9:30 to 10 p.m. the previous night. At about 1 a.m., she said, she got up and went to the bathroom. When she returned to the bedroom, she saw that her husband had stabbed himself.
In another violent case, Richard Waldon Sullivan Jr., 63, of King Street in Belle Haven, was indicted on a count of strangulation of a family member. The incident occurred Dec. 1, 2018. Sullivan is in Accomack County Jail. Deputy S. Rose, of the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), gave information about the case to the jury.
Leah Nicolle Burton, 41, of Beebe Road in Chincoteague, was indicted on a count of child abuse and neglect of a child in connection with an Oct. 25, 2018, incident. Burton is accused of drinking and driving with a child, who was seriously injured when the woman’s car hit a telephone pole. “A boy in the vehicle was holding his head with blood coming out,” the court record stated. Officer J. Stevens, of CPD, gave information to the jury.
Jacob Tyler Wiley, 20, of Maple Street in Onley, was indicted on counts of possession of a Schedule I or II drug, possession of the drug while in possession of a firearm, and possession with the intent to sell between a half-ounce and five pounds of marijuana. The crimes occurred Oct. 28, 2018. Deputy N. Kugler, of the ACSO, investigated.
Erito Galvez-Roblero, 32, of Crisfield Highway in Westover, Md., was indicted on two counts of abuse and neglect of a child on Nov. 18, 2018. A breathalyzer test showed the suspect with .218 grams per 210 liters of breath. The legal limit is .08. The children were an 8-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl. Trooper L.W. Milyko investigated.
Donna Lee Hanbidge, 75, of Liberty Street in Onancock, was indicted on a count of felony shoplifting. The offense occurred Nov. 6, 2018. Officer Kim Whitelock, of Onancock Police Department, investigated.
Latisha Annetta Pepper, 33, of Callen Street in Parksley, was indicted on counts of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute, possessing cocaine while in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon — all on Oct. 16, 2018. She was also indicted on a count of possessing a firearm in connection with a July 8, 2018, incident. Milyko testified about the October offenses. Kugler handled the July case. Pepper is in Accomack Jail.
William Parke Custis, 41, of Seaside Road in Exmore, was indicted on counts of breaking into the home of Gay Savage and violating a protective order on Dec. 10, 2018. Deputy C. Hargis, of ACSO, investigated.
Carrie Rae Jones, 34, of Townsend Lane in Atlantic, was indicted on a count of possessing cocaine on Oct. 18, 2018. Deputy K. Reese investigated.
David Tyler Nalls, 26, of Simpson Lane in Melfa, was indicted on a count of intentionally damaging or destroying property belonging to Norman Pitt. The offense occurred Sept. 20, 2018. Deputy C. Hodgson investigated. Damages of more than $1,000 were assessed.
Gloria Marie Grillone, 32, of Mason Road in Bloxom, was indicted on a count of possessing cocaine on Nov. 10, 2018. Deputy K.A. Reese, of ACSO, investigated.
