Ms. Gloria Jean Parks, 75, of Tangier Island, went to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born on Tangier Sept. 9, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Cranston and Amy Crockett Parks.
A graduate of Tangier Combined School, she was a waitress at the Chesapeake House. She was a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and was janitor.
She enjoyed sewing in her younger years, but her pride and joy was her family. She especially loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is survived by her sisters, Judy McCrary and husband, Richard, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Sharon Dise and husband, Dana, of Tangier; nieces and nephews, Amie McCrary (M.C.), of Harrisonburg, Adam McCrary, of North Carolina, Christa Dameron (Jason), of Heathsville, Va., and Dustin Dise (Kristen), of Deltaville, Va.; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Kailee Elyard, Jaiden Shirley, Mylah McCrary, Greenley McCrary, Riley Dameron, Julia Dise, and Claire Dise.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Charles Wesley Parks, Pastor Nona Allen, and Mr. Denny Crockett were Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier. Interment was in the Crockett Family Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Swain Memorial U. M. Church or American Cancer Society.
