Jawaun Bell’s 26 points helped lift the Northampton Yellow Jackets boys team to a 65-52 win over the Nandua Warriors last Friday in Onley. Vonte Coston contributed 23 points in the win, and Jeremiah Major led the team with 10 rebounds.
Bell put up 40 points in the Yellow Jacket’s battle against the Arcadia Firebirds Tuesday night in Oak Hall. Northampton finished on top, just edging Arcadia in overtime by a tune of 92-91. Coston potted 20 points, and Kasai Clark and Brian Fisher each put up 15 points, apiece, with Fisher notching the team high in rebounds with 8.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action tonight (Friday) to host Charles City in Eastville at 7 p.m.
Arcadia topped Chincoteague Jan. 17 in Oak Hall, 76-55. The Firebirds will travel to Onley next to faceoff with the Warriors Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
The Ponies are set to host the Yellow Jackets Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. on the Island.
Nandua fell in a road tilt Tuesday night to Pocomoke, 53-48. They will head to Northumberland Saturday afternoon next.
The Broadwater Vikings boys suffered a loss to Atlantic Shores, 74-38, last Friday on the road. Tuesday night, the boys hosted Williamsburg Christian in Exmore where they fell to their visitors, 76-61. The boys’ next court battle is scheduled for tonight in Exmore, at 7 p.m.
Jan. 17, the Broadwater girls club sent Summit Christian back home with a 32-17 loss in the Eagles’ book. The girls traveled to Atlantic Shores last Friday, and fell to the Seahwks, 52-15. The Vikings will be back tonight in Exmore at 5:30 p.m. against Isle of Wight.
Chincoteague hosted the Firebirds Jan. 17 and came out on top, 37-33.
Caroline Thornton led the Ponies with 17 points and Emma Jackson hooped 8. Caroline Shelley had the team high in rebounds with 20.
Kaylah Wharton led the Firebirds with 10 points and Denijah Woolford scored 9.
The Northampton Yellow Jackets girls varsity team retired the Warriors last Friday in Eastville, ending the game in a 63-27 count.
Tuesday night, the Warriors fell to Pocomoke, 55-35, in Onley. They are set to travel to Rappahannock tonight.
The Lady Jackets extinguished the Firebirds in Eastville Tuesday night by a final score of 68-36.
Wharton led Arcadia at the net with 13 points, with Maleia Dickerson notching 12.
Jada Giddens led the Yellow Jackets with 23 points. Maeyanna Delk potted 16 points and Brianna Bochman tallied 13.
The Yellow Jackets will be back on the court Friday in Eastville against Charles City at 5:30 pm. The Firebirds are set to travel to Onley Jan. 29 to meet the Warriors for a 5:30 p.m. court battle.
