The Chincoteague Storytelling Guild is hosting its monthly Story Swap on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m., at the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance (CCA) building, 6309 Church St. The theme for the evening is “Nature.”

At every Story Swap, members of the audience are invited to share a short story to the crowd. This gathering provides a welcoming environment and safe space to try out the craft of storytelling. Each Story Swap this year has been bigger and more fun than the last, with a record turnout in August. So get the creative juices flowing and come join in the fun.

In September, experienced members of the guild will be sharing stories about camping trips gone awry, learning how to dig for clams, surprise spider visits, and more. The host for the evening, Sarah Mason, will be telling a story about climbing trees.

The success of each Story Swap relies on enthusiastic audience participation. These monthly events are offered free of charge, including free refreshments, and occur on the last Friday of the month, March through October. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the storytelling begins promptly at 7 p.m.

To celebrate Halloween, the final Storytelling Guild Event in 2018 is on Oct. 26. The third annual Spooky Stories event will be held outside around a fire and feature creepy crawly ghost tales. And there will be treats. For more information, visit https:// www.chincoteagueca.org
