It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Lillie, on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018. Born in Harborton, on July 18, 1919, she was the sixth child of (the late) Francis E. and Mary Winder Lytle Nicolls. She is survived by her two children, Jane (Gerry) Bennett and Phil N. Hutchinson; four grandsons; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews across America; and Joy Shackelford Bowden and family. She was predeceased by sisters, Alice Nicolls and Frances Badger; brothers, Carroll, James, and a baby brother; and our dad, Raymond M. Hutchinson and second husband William “Buddy” Shackelford.
Mrs. Shackelford’s sweet smile and beautiful heart will forever be remembered by all who had the pleasure to know and love her.
Services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Deborah Killough officiating.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the wonderful staff and friends made at the Admiral Long Term Care facility in Dartmouth. You were family, too and made her last years happy and safe.
