Central Accomack Little League hosted the 2nd Annual Sundog Benefit Softball Tournament Sept. 22, in memory of Tiffany Lewis Smith, who has left a mark on the league, and in many hearts, after her passing early last year.

After last year’s tournament success in raising enough funds to order a playground for CALL as a memorium to Smith, more goals were set for this year in order to prepare the grounds for the playground to be built, as well as put up a fence on the grounds.

With a generous grant from the Eastern Shore Community Foundation, as well as an additional $13,068.07 raised from donations and sponsorships from this year’s tournament and fence post sales, the league is set to have the new playground built during the week of Oct. 8-12, with a ribbon cutting scheduled shortly after. This year’s earnings have put them very close to their overall fundraising goals, and fence post sales are still open. Donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
