Mr. George Jeffrey Wynne, 85, a resident of Willis Wharf, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox. Born Sept. 5, 1932, in Nassawadox, he was the son of the late George Baker Wynne and the late Eunice Ballard Wynne DeVore. Mr. Wynne graduated from Northampton High School and Duke University. He also attended University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, and University of Virginia where he took many graduate courses in mathematics, computer science, and rocket propulsion sciences. Mr. Wynne served with the U.S. Army in Germany in 1953-1954, and he was a life member of the Exmore Moose Lodge #683 and the V.F.W. Post 1800 in Indian Head, Md.
Professionally, Mr. Wynne was a mathematician and computer software developer. For 32 years he was a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy and worked at N.O.A.T.S., Chincoteague, Va., and Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head. After retirement from the civil service, Mr. Wynne was a private consultant to the Naval Surface Weapons System, Indian Head Division, where, for seven years, he developed software in support of Aircrew Escape Systems.
He is survived by numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his long-time friend and companion, Frances C. Armbrester.
